ABOUT US

The National Black College Alliance is a group of alumni and students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, working together with urban minority high school students to create a new generation of civic leaders. We form a powerful network of support and inspiration for youth and adults alike, working together to improve the health of our communities and increase the opportunities available to our youth.

NBCA was founded in 1989, when the Boston-area alumni of historically Black colleges got together to provide mentoring and support for urban minority youth who want to go to college. The National Black College Alliance was born from a desire to give back to our communities and to encourage others to do the same. An all-volunteer, grassroots group for more than 10 years, the Alliance became a full-fledged non-profit organization in 2000. In 2005, NBCA is beginning to form chapters in other cities.
